Dear friends,

The 2011 Mayor's Cup can easily be compared to a sailboat race. You plan the course according to the wind direction, set the marks...then the wind shifts.

After nine months of planning, and everything on pace, came the flooding throughout Lake Champlain. With an entire region adrift, it was more important than ever to find a reason to say, "Good-bye, flood waters...Hello, summer!"...the Mayor's Cup Festival did just that!

We would like to express our gratitude to the Mayor's Cup organizing committee, the City of Plattsburgh employees, community volunteers, the SUNY Plattsburgh Alumni Association, and the Plattsburgh Sunrise Rotary volunteers. In record time, you cleaned up an unprecedented mess of muddy debris - as well as uncertainty - and helped bring the people of New York, Vermont, and Quebec, together for a 4-day "waterfront celebration" of live music, fireworks, sailing, boat parading, BBQs, awards, bike and kayak rides, basketball, circus acts, artisans, pony rides, face painting, science projects, plus a whole lot more!

The entire Mayor's Cup Festival is 100% sponsor funded, so a "special" thanks to all sponsors for your valuable financial support in 2011. Without you, this great community event - with or without the flooding - would be "high and dry!"
